bark at the moon
You'll have to forgive the quality, but I thought I should at least take an opportunity to shoot a few pictures of the lunar eclipse. Since viewing of a similar eclipse won't happen for another 3 years, I figured I had better take advantage.
The background lights created by the DFW metroplex definitely didn't help the quality. And while I love my Olympus C-4040, it isn't the ideal camera for lunar eclipse photography either.

welcome to shreya!

Congratulations to Raju and Sujatha! Their first daughter, Shreya, arrived on October 25, 2004 at 12:32 PM. She was 6 pounds and 15 ounces and measured 20 inches in length. She is a precious little girl that will keep Raju busy I'm sure. I wish the entire family many years of joy and happiness! Click here to see the pictures from Shreya's "birthday".
Congratulations again to the new parents and best of wishes to them and their new family member!

lightning rod

Just a quick entry to point out that I've added live weather from our house to the site. Becky gave me an Oregon Scientific WMR-68 for my birthday. I finished installing it this weekend and now have live updates every 10 minutes on the web page.
I'm still working the kinks out, so you'll have to bear with me if updates are late or if I get an occasional poor reading. For instance, I discovered last night that my rain meter still isn't high enough to avoid the sprinklers. So, until I get to corrected next weekend, my station may end up measuring the "rain" I pay the city for...
Hope you are as big a weather nerd as I am and enjoy checking out weather from my house as much as I do!

bob in his kurta
Kishore, from the CTS offshore team, joined us in Fort Worth to help cover while Suman is on vacation. When he arrived, he was kind enough to have brought some gifts to share with me. One of them was a kurta. I promised I would take pictures wearing it so everyone could see it -- including the rest of the team in Chennai. Click here to see those pictures.
Let me extend my sincerest thanks to Kishore (and everyone else involved) in bringing these gifts to me from India. I truly appreciate it! I can't thank you enough. Now I just need a big Indian festivity to attend so I have an excuse to wear it out.

Today's Pictures (Day 10, October 27, 2003)
If day 9 in Paradise was my day to explore the water around the island, day 10 was our day to explore Bora Bora itself. Shortly after breakfast, we met the guide from Tupuna Mountain Safari in the hotel lobby. As seemed to always be the case with the locals, he was in great mood and seemed excited for another chance to talk about his beautiful island. It must be hard to find a reason to frown when living someplace as gorgeous as Bora Bora.
Only one other couple sat in the Land Rover with us that day. They were an older couple from Germany. We learned that they were going to be in the South Pacific for a while longer and were just getting their trip started. Most of our stops on this island tour were at sites built by the Seabees during World War II. Our tour guide explained although there was never any active combat here, it served as an important refueling station and favorite port for servicemen located in the area during the 40's.
