shower at work
Just a quick entry to thank everyone at Accor involved with the shower thrown for Becky today. You were more than generous and were very gracious in giving us these gifts. We can't tell you how much we appreciate your thoughtfulness and friendship.

all about morty

Becky has given me the green light to finally officially talk about the fact that "we are pregnant." Isn't that the current vernacular? The fact is that she is pregnant, and I'm doing my best to keep things as normal as possible as her body continues to play evil tricks on her. Of course, I think she only gave me permission because I have baby shower pictures to post.
She will be 36 weeks on Tuesday, and we are due in right at 4 weeks. As the time nears, the reality is slowly creeping its way in -- we're going to have a baby! We've started taking profile pictures, so I decided to go ahead and post them here. Much to Becky's delight. Click here to see the latest updates.
Needless to say, we are overjoyed and extremely excited. We made the decision to not find out the sex of the baby, so we won't know until the big day arrives. Now that I've been given permission to post updates on the web, I'll start putting up more pictures and information up to and through the arrival.
On another note, most of the furniture for the living room has arrived. We are still missing the media center, but are hopeful it will arrive soon. With the new floor, paint, and furniture you hardly recognize the place. I've update the picture gallery from the painters with the completion of the paint job and the addition of the furniture that arrived. The gallery updates start at picture 18. Click here to go directly to the latest updates. Also, if you didn't us the link above, you can click here to see the baby shower pictures.
Sorry to post such big news with so little detail. But in typical fashion, I've started working on this too late and must call it an evening. As I said above, now that the cat is out of the bag I'm sure I'll be posting more and more.

the yellow paint wall
Stage Two has begun on the house remodeling. We've hired Tony's Painting to do the work for us. They are on day three and things are progressing very well. Becky and I have been nothing but pleased with Tony's work ethic, his skills, and reasonable pricing. I've started posting pictures of the work as it progresses. Click here to see the latest updates to the work. I'll continue to update the photos until the work is complete.
Once the painting is complete, we'll be ready to start having the furniture delivered from Ethan Allen. After having diligently saved and waited for so long to finally update the paint and the living room furniture, Becky and I are very excited about the changes and fresh new look. Today, our living room furniture is comprised of Becky's college furniture and a few additional pieces we've picked up over the years. For the most part, it is 10 years old or older.
I'll continue to post the house updates until all of the work is done, the furniture has arrived, and the window treatments are complete.
visitors from jersey
For the first time in a couple of years, we got the opportunity to spend some time with the Paige family. Versus Dennis and me talking on the phone for an hour on a single call... We haven't seen them since our visit to NYC back in June of 2003. It was great to get to see them and to meet the newest edition to the family, Samantha.
We spent most of the afternoon last Sunday with their clan at Memorial Park in Lewisville. Afterward, we headed back to the house. Shortly after arriving home, I realized we were short on things to keep a 3 and 5 year old occupied. So, Dennis and I ended up attempting to create balloon animals for the kids. Balloon artists we are not! Our creations looked akin to an amoeba at best! Click here to see our feeble attempts.
We also got together with Dennis, Melanie, and Samantha for dinner on Wednesday night while Dennis' sister watched the two older children. We started the evening at Mi Cocina. As always, the food and margaritas were out of this world. I think Dennis enjoyed them the most after suffering through a long Tex-Mex drought in New Jersey. After our meal, we wandered over to Sweet Italy Cafe, a little gelato shop in Parker Square in Flower Mound. We satisfied our sweet tooth before calling it an evening and heading home. Our nights on the town tend to wrap up earlier and earlier these days...
We wound up the week with a trip to Cantina Laredo. Editor's Note: Dennis is attempting to satiate his "Texan's Favorite Foods" jones. We managed to have a great chat above the din created by the Mariachi band and the patrons all attempting to speak above it. While the band itself was good, it caused the volume level to climb dramatically. We discussed all sorts of important Texas traits and traditions. Of course, one of my and Dennis' favorites is Big Red.
Getting to see the Paiges was fantastic. We just wish there weren't such long periods of time between visits. Now, I just have to convince them to move back to the great state of Texas. I think Melanie may be the tougher sell. With Dennis being a Texan, the natural draw home can be almost irresistible.
