living room air traffic control
 |
Jason came by Monday night. He brought by the prototype for his living room flyer. It was really cool to see a plane coasting through the house. The cats really loved it, too. They couldn't take their eyes off of the little green plane. |
Unfortunately, the flyer was a bit under-powered. It had difficulty staying in the air for more than
just a few seconds. (Not to mention you had to dodge it to avoid being smashed with nose!) Jason thinks he just needs to add a gearbox to help increase the power. Once
that is done, we'll have some longer test flights. I felt like a real
flight pioneer!
The Superbowl party is coming up on Sunday. Nothing like gathering a bunch of friends, a little booze, a lot of food, and
Football! I'll be sure to update the site with pictures from the festivities when we're done. 'Til next time!

only on the weekends

Even though I've made a few posts to the blog before, tonight will be the first time I send out an email to let everyone know. I wasn't quite satisfied with the layout until now. Special thanks to Jason for all of his help with the graphics. He is so much more proficient in photo-editing that his help is invaluable. He also helped me with the layout of the photo pages. |
I wish there were lots of exciting things that happen during the week to discuss. Unfortunately, there is not much to report. We are pushing hard to finish our project by the beginning of March. Needless to say, we are heads-down most of the day. I have managed to get the
project webpage updated though. If you want a little peek into the work - and the fun - we are having on the project, check it out.
We've been having fun on the weekends to make up for it. Last weekend, we spent Sunday afternoon with the Garnett's. The brought over their little boy
Reese. He is always a joy to be around. He has a great disposition. We visited
Salerno's and devoured the delicious Italian food. We then retired back to the house. We warmed our full bellies at the fireplace and chatted until Reese's bedtime. A great low effort, high quality evening - perfect!
Yesterday Robert, my oldest nephew, and I went out to play
disc golf at
Greenbelt Park in
Carrollton. We had a great time and Robert
played well. The 10 mph winds made the course difficult to play. The mud from the last few days of rain didn't help much either. We wound up fishing for the disc in the creek as much as we did making throws. We decided to come back and try the course again on a day where the wind wasn't blowing quite so hard. Neither one of us is quite good enough yet to adjust for a wind that hard as well as we'd like.
That brings us to today. Becky left for a two-day meeting in Las Vegas. So, Jason and I geeked and finished up the blog. We used
HtmlSS to create the photo galleries. Jason helped me create the Polaroid on the corkboard template. I think we came up with a great design. (I'm sure I'm not biased either...)
On another geek-related note... If you don't already have it, get
trillian! I saw it reviewed in a C|Net Digital Dispatch and decided to check it out. It is single Instant Messenger with access to ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, AIM, and IRC. From now on, you only need one interface to reach people using any of the various Instant Messengers. By the way, if you have an account on one of the services, send it to me please. I'm keeping trillian up all of the time now. So, who knows? Maybe we can catch each other and play a game of hearts or something.
'til next time...
